Hello everybody!
I can't believe I'm one step closer to this amazing opportunity. So I guess I'm supposed to tell ya a little bit about myself. Well, I am 21, a junior at Olivet Nazarene University. And I'm currently trying to make it through nursing school. It's intense, but it's awesome at the same time. I also have managed to squeeze a Spanish minor into the craziness of nursing, so I'm really looking forward to brushing up on some Spanish. I also participate in a choir on campus---I know, as if I'm not busy enough already. But this is my one chance to hang out with people, other than nursing students, three times a week, and just focus on God through music. I love it! I grew up in a little farm town in Illinois, technically it's the "Hog Capital of the World". If you really are curious, I will explain it to you. But it's really not as exciting as it sounds. Just a quirky, small town thing. I am the youngest in my family, with just one older brother. So going on this trip is going to be a stretch for both my parents.
To be completely honest, I have always considered myself to be a shy person. However, once I'm around people long enough (usually within a few minutes), the shyness seems to disappear. Through the years, I have gradually learned to come out of my shell. So now, here I am preparing like the rest of you, to go to the Amazon. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the idea that we will soon be in the jungle. It's terrifying and awesome at the same time. I can't wait to meet you all. I too, like many of you, have facebook...so feel free to find me.
Praying for each of you! ---Chels
