Hello, My name is Deacon Maloney and I grew up in Vail Colorado. I am currently attending the University of Colorado in Boulder where I am studying environmental studies. This is my first year here at Boulder because I went to school in Santa Barbara California for two years before taking a year off of school and transferring to Boulder. I am the oldest of four siblings and have an amazing family that I am more thankful for every day.
I am really looking forward to this summer! I thought I would tell you a little bit about how I got here. I am part of a campus ministry group called the Annex which has a summer missions program called “messenger.” This year there are 23 of us involved in messenger, in the messenger program we fill out an application, have an interview, and a couple meetings with the rest of the group and leave the decisions up to the committee and God. I had no clue where I would be going this summer or what I would be doing, on the announcement night I found out that I am going to the Amazon in Peru! I never imagined I would be going there, but I am so excited and I can’t wait to see what God has planned for our summer.
I guess the other things to know about me are that I am a very outdoors oriented person, I grew up in the outdoors and love everything about this natural world that God has created for us. I love experiencing new cultures and getting to know people from different walks of life! I am so excited for this summer, to meet everyone else from the team, and for what God has planned for this summer. As everyone else has said, I have facebook as well so look me up, I have not been on it for a while but will start using it again come easter.
